Mary was born on 16 October 1848 in Fremantle, Western Australia.[1][2] She is the daughter of John Cox and Martha Drew.
Mary died at two years of age and was buried in Fremantle on 2 December 1850.[3] The burial register records the cause of death as "Inf. Chest" and profession as "Left by her husband, baker.", meaning the mother's husband was a baker who had left her.
