Born in Boston at his father's house on Back Street, now Salem Street.[1]
Obtained from the geneology of the Craft Family compiled by James M Craft and William F. Craft 1630-1890 The same Major Edward Craft assisted in establishing American independence, while acting in the capacity of private,captain and major.. He entered the continental service from Worchester on the 19th of April 1775 as private of Captain Flaggs Co. of Minute Men at the time of the "Lexington Alarm". He was present at the Battle of Bunker Hill as Captain of A company of artillery in Co. Richard Gridleys regiment. A return of his company is on file at the State House at Boston. His brother Thomas Craft was one of the famous "Sons of Liberty" and was a member of the Boston "Teaparty".[2]
Moved from Worcester to Murrayfield, Hampden Co., MA after the war. Murrayfield changed its name to Chester in 1783. He and his family moved to Middlesex, Ontario Co., NY in 1792; during this journey his daughter Hannah, age 14, was captured by Indians, and her brother Edward, age 23, rescued her, after tracking the Indians for a week.[3][2] [4]
The Crafts Family Cemetery is in Yates County, NY, near Potter, the West side of Fitch Road, just south of Ferguson’s Corners, in the woods at the top of a hill, about 1/4 mile in.[1]
