Walter Scott Cragle Jr. was born in Pond Hill, Conyngham Township, Luzerne, Pennsylvania on 13 May 1915. He was the fifth of twelve children born to Blanche Mae Hontz and Walter Scott Cragle Sr.. In 1932 he graduated from Shickshinny High School, Shickshinny, Luzerne, Pennsylvania.
He was stationed at a Civilian Conservation Corps camp in Washington, DC in 1935. In Jan 1941 he married Evelyn Schmidtman, and they raised one son and one daughter. He served U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked at the Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia, and retired in 1970.
Walter died in Colorado on 18 Jan 1993. On 2 Feb 1993 he was buried in Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado.[1]
