Biography
Samuel was born about 1795. He is the son of John Craven and Hannah Hadley.
Parents' headstone has names of children:

He married in Randolph County Araminta Craven, of John Andrew Craven and Mary Vanderford

Research Notes
Purvis book has him married to Martha Cox, dau. of William Cox who in his will of 1829 mentions land presumably left to dau. Martha and her husband (pg 196).
The attached 1850 Census shows a Samuel Craven with wife Araminta Craven (Craven-2538), dau. of John Andrew Craven and Mary Vanderford. There is a marriage record for Samuel Craven and Minty Craven from 1817.
The Purvis book may have Araminta married to the wrong Samuel Craven (see Craven-607).
