MRS. JESSIE MARIA TENI. The death occurred on Monday of last week at her home of Mrs. Jessie Maria Teni, wife of Mr. A. Teni, of Barrington Street. A daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Todd Crick, Mrs. Teni was born 66 years ago at Stroud, where her father was a grazier. Mrs. Teni spent her early life at Stroud. After her marriage in Sydney in 1902 she and her husband settled at Barrington, where they were amongst the best known and most respected residents at that centre. Ten years ago when Mr. Teni retired from active farming they came to live in Gloucester, says the Advocate.'
Of a reserved and kindly nature, Mrs. Teni was highly respected in the district. Being of a retiring disposition she did not participate to a great extent in public life but she was known as a generous giver. Her heart was especially in her church, to which she always gave freely. Mrs. Teni had been in failing health for some months past and her passing on Monday week was not unexpected by her family. Up to the end she bore her illness quietly and with remarkable patience. To her family she was a most uncomplaining patient.
Following a beautiful service conducted in St. Paul's on Tuesday afternoon by the rector. Rev. D. R. May, at which the congregation sang the hymn, 'Peace, Perfect Peace,' the funeral left for the Gloucester cemetery, where the interment was made in the Church of England portion, the rector officiating.
Mrs. Teni is survived by her husband, three daughters, viz., Mrs. Horace Hazelwood (Win), Gloucester; Mrs. Eric Tull (Hilda May), 'Kinalung,' via Broken Hill, and Sister Kit, of Queen Alexandra Hospital, Hobart, and one son, William, of Sydenham, Sydney. Another son, James, predeceased her 9 years ago. Surviving brothers and sisters are: Mr. John Crick (Stroud), Mr. Geo. Crick (Woonona, South Coast), Mrs. J. G. Wilson (Gloucester) and Mrs. E. Pierce (Springwood). Brothers and sisters predeceasing her were Tom and Will, and Soph., Elsie and Sarah (Mrs. T. L. Higgins). To Mr. Teni and family we extend our sincere sympathy.[1]
