Biography

Francis A, “Frank” Crockett was born in Wythe, Virginia about 1805, the son of Robert (seen as John on Frank’s death records) Crockett and Jane L. (Stuart) Crockett. He was the fourth of their nine children.

On 12 Oct. 1826 in Tazewell, Virginia, Frank married Martha (Cosby) George (1808-1875, the dau. of Charles Cosby and Mary Minter), Frank and Martha had nine children, born between 1827 and 1854. In 1850, they lived in Grayson, Virginia. The household included Francis A. Crockett, 46, an inn keeper; his wife, Martha C., and at least seven of their children, probably eight, plus a daughter in law.

Francis A. Crockett was a farmer, married to M.C. Crockett, when he died, aged 62 of heart disease on 8 September 1867 in Carroll County, Virginia. According to the informant of his death, Francis was the son of John and Jane L. Crockett. The informant to his death was his son, John G. Crockett. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]
