Biography
Edward was born in 1858[1] in Beverley, Yorkshire, England, where he lived with his parents, John Crombie and Elizabeth Slater, in 1861.[2] The family had moved to Hull, Yorkshire, by 1871.[3]
At the time of the 1881 Edward was first mate aboard the Harrier in Hull.[4]
In 1885 he married Emily Brown in Hull.[5][6] She died in 1886 at the age of 23.[7] John married Mary Hannah Middleton in Hull in 1887.[8][9]
