James was born in 1894. He is the son of James Culling and Thamar Syzling.
In 1911 he was assisting in an hotel in Portsmouth.
He enlisted in the 9th Battalion of the Suffolk Regiment at Bury St Edmunds, service number 12664, and was killed in action / died of wounds[1] in France on 20 October 1915.[2]
He is buried in Belgium at LA BRIQUE CEMETERY No.2.[3]
