Mary was born in 1836. Daughter of William Curtis (Miner) and Johanna Trewartha from St Agnes.

She was Baptised at Redruth, Cornwall, England on 23 September 1836. [1]

On 6 June 1841 Johana Cortis (45) with children Hannah Cortis (15), William Cortis (15) Copper Miner, James Cortis (8), Mary Cortis (5) and Saianna Cortis (3) lived in Skinner's Bottom, St Agnes, Cornwall, England. [2]

On 31 March 1851 Redruth born widow Johanna Courtise (55) with St Agnes born children James Courtise (18) Copper Miner and Mary Courtise (15) Work at the mines lived in Skinner's Bottom, St Agnes, Cornwall, England. [3]

Thomas Henry Kneebone married Mary Curtis at St. Agnes, Cornwall on 10 October 1857.

On 16 January 1862 Mary Kneebone (24) with son James Kneebone (3) emigrated from England departing Plymouth on board the vessel Swiftsure and arrived Melbourne, Australia on 19 April 1862. [6]

Her husband passed away in 1885.

She passed away in 1922 [7] aged 86 and was buried at the Rookwood General Cemetery, Old Wesleyan 4A.17. [8] [9]
