Oswald Cuthbertson was born in Clarendon in 1868. He married Jane. They moved to Bristol Township.
The news of the sudden death of Oswald Cuthbertson, of Bristol, was received with expressions of deepest regret by the whole community. Mr. Cuthbertson was 61 years of age, a man of fine physique and appeared in his usual good health.
He was superintending work on the binder on Wednesday afternoon last when taken suddenly ill.
Deceased was an outstanding man in the community in which he lived of kindly heart and sterling character, who enjoyed the respect and good will of all who knew him.
He was survived by his wife, one son, O. Bertrand; two daughters, Maye and Mrs. R. H. Sheppard. His aged mother, 95 years, with one brother, R. J. Cuthbertson, and five sisters, Mrs. Trowsse, Arnprior; Mrs. Jos. and Mrs. Wm. Campbell, Green Bay, Wisconsin; Mrs. John Gordon, and Miss Belle Cuthbertson, Bristol; and three grandchildren, Jean and Oswald Cuthbertson, and Clare Sheppard.
The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Mr. MacMillan, pastor of the Presbyterian church, assisted by Rev. Mr. MacCallum, of St. Elmo, a former pastor.
Notwithstanding the heavy downpour of rain all Friday, a very large cortege attended the burial at Norway Bay cemetery.
Many beautiful floral tributes were received. The pallbearers were: R. J. Cuthbertson, R. A. Hodgins, W. H Dods, J. C. Glenn, R. K. Milks, Ottawa, and Wm. Cuthbertson, Norway Bay.[1]
