Biography

Miss Dancy, the daughter of John Dancy was born about 1755. She was the second wife Robert Jennings, and married in Rowan County, North Carolina, in roughly the 1771 to 1778 time range. She died after 1780 at which time both her proved children Isaiah and Sarah "Sally" were born.

She was the mother of perhaps Jesse and Thomas, and is proved as the mother of Sarah "Sally" and Isaiah as shown the following transcript:
Know all Men by these presents that we Isaah Gennings, Jonathan Hethman & Sally Heathman his wife each of Madison County and State of Kentucky, reposing spetial [special] confidence in and for divers good causes herewith moveing us do hereby Constitute, Ordain, & appoint Stephen Smith of Pulasky [Pulaski] County and State of Kentucky Our true and Lawful Attorney to apply for and in Our Names to receive all and every thing both real and personal of the estate of John Dancy of Roan [Rowan] County and State of North Carolina to which we each of us Legatees have any claim and we do further empower Our said attorney to sell & convey to any person he wishes all the right Title and interest to lands, or any property that he as above may receive and in every way Or manner to act for us as fully as we Ourselves could do werd were we each of us there in person by virtue of these presents signed sealed and delivered this 9th day of July 1814 in presence of
D. Carr
John Smith
[signed]: Isaah (x his mark) Ginning
Johnathan (X his mark) Healhman [Heathman]
Sally (X her mark) Healman [Heathman]

Commonwealth of Kentucky

Personally appeared before me a Justice of the peace for the County aforesaid Isaah Gennings, Johnathan Hethman & Sally Heathman who severally acknowledged the within power of Attorney to be their act and deed for the purposes therein contained given under my hand and seal this 9th day of July 1814
Samuel Logan J. P.[1]

John Dancy had died intestate. For Isaiah Jennings and Sally (Jennings) Heathman to have been legatees, it would be because they were descendants. Given their respective ages, it would be because their mother was a deceased daughter of John Dancy, and they would have rights to her share. Isaiah and Sally were the youngest children of Robert.
