Biography

Edna was born 28 May 1905 in Victory, Cayuga County, New York.^[1] She was the daughter of Clyde H Daratt (or Hulbert Clive) and Maude Mae Fink.^[2]

In 1910 she was living in the town of Conquest, Cayuga County, New York.^[3] The household included Clyde H Daratt age 31, his wife Maude M Daratt age 28, daughter Vivian Daratt age 8, son Ross Daratt age 7, and daughter Edna Daratt, all born in New York. In 1920 in Conquest^[4] the household included Clyde Darat age 38, his wife Maude Daratt age 36, daughter Vivian Daratt age 18, son Ross Daratt age 16, daughter Edna Daratt age 13, and son Eltine Daratt age 3.

In 1923 she was a shoeworker living at 50 Nelson in Auburn, New York.^[5]

She married Albert E Bailey 4 Aug 1924 in Auburn, New York.^[6]

In 1924 they lived at 9 Franklin Street in Auburn.^[7] In 1926 they lived at 158 Cottage Street in Auburn..^[8]

In 1925 they lived on Owasco Road, Cayuga County.^[9] Albert E Bailey age 22 was a farm laborer and Edna Bailey age 20 was doing housework.

In 1930 they lived in Auburn, New York.^[10] The household included Albert J Bailey age 26, his wife Edna J Bailey age 24, son Gerald D Bailey age 4, son Richard A Bailey age 20, and father Albert T Bailey age 60, all born in New York. Albert J was a chauffeur for Harvester Company and Edna was a stitcher in a shoe shop.

In 1932 they lived at 244 Franklin Street in Auburn.^[11]

In 1940 she was living in Auburn and working in the shoe factory.^[12] The household included Albert Bailey age 71, his son Albery Bailey age 38, daughter in law Edna J Bailey age 37, grandson David J Bailey age 14 and grandson Richard Bailey age 12.

Edna and Albert were divorced.

She married Warren Sands 8 Jun 1946 in Auburn, New York.^[13]

She moved to Sennett, Cayuga County, New York in 1971. She was employed for more than 20 years at Dunn & McCarthy Shoe Co.^[14]

She died 13 April 1992 in Auburn, New York after a long illness. Survivors included son Richard A Bailey of Auburn, brother Elton Daratt of Cato, and sister Vivian Martin of Canandaigua.^[14][15][16]

She is buried in SECTION C, LOT 17: SANDS/(WHITING) of Maple Grove Cemetery, Jordan, Onondaga County, New York.^[17]
