Biography

While born in March 1921, he is not listed as living with his mom in the 1921 (June) census or 1931 census, but lists her as his next of kin on his army enlistment.

In the 1931 census Leslie (age 10) was a brother in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.[1]

In July 1943, he enlisted in the Canadian army. He was in the Calgary Highlanders, R.C.I.C. (service number M7575).[2]

He had one son with Frances Marie Haynes on 18 Mar 1944 in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. It looks like the son was given up for adoption and parentage was determined by DNA tests.

Leslie arrived from Newcastle Upon Tyne, England to New York on 27 May 1944[3]

He married Maureen Elizabeth Sullivan on April 21, 1944, in Brampton, Ontario, Canada.

Leslie died on 8 February 1945 in Holland.[4][5][6]

Leslie was mentioned on a memorial in Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery and Memorial, Groesbeek, Berg en Dal Municipality, Gelderland, Netherlands with a death date of 8 February 1945.[7]
