Percy was born in Huon[1] on November 5th, 1887, as son of Walter and Mary.[2]
Percy enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on August 25th, 1915. At enlistment, Percy was described as being 5'9¼" in height, having blue eyes, and fair skin.[1] He departed Melbourne on November 24th, 1915, on the RMS Orontes.[3]
Originally, Percy was assigned to the 12/12th Infantry Battalion (12th Reinforcement of the 12th Infantry Battalion). However, on March 19th, 1916, he was transferred to the recently formed 1st Pioneer Battalion.[1]
The unit left Australia for England on the H.S. Dieppe on July 29th, 1916. Percy served in France until the October 20th, 1918, when he was granted leave to the UK. He returned to Australia on March 28th, 1919.[1]
Percy was awarded the 1914-1915 Star, the British War Medal, and the Victory Medal,[1] as is standard for members of the Australian Imperial Force.
Percy would marry Lucy Manning.[4]
He died in Hobart on April 10th, 1961.[5]
