Charles W. Davis BIRTH: 14 Sep 1803, Pickaway County, Ohio, USA DEATH: 8 Jul 1880 (aged 76), Champaign County, Illinois, USA Charles Davis was born on September 14, 1803 and died on July 8, 1881 in Urbana, Illinois. On July 7, 1831, he married Angeline Bruer, who was born on June 30, 1816 and died in 1890 or 1892. The family says 1890, but the stone says 1892. Charles and Angeline were the parents of sixteen children. Ten of these children never grew to adulthood. They (or I should say, most of them) are buried at the Dinsmore (sometimes called Towbridge) cemetery which is located at the intersection of Indiana Highways 63 and 36 near Hillsdale, Indiana in Vermillion County, Helt Township. There is no stone for Charles, but there is a burial place next to his widow; some of the children have no stones, but there are places of burial in the family plot. This is a very old cemetery and for years was not too well maintained and the stones could be covered with soil. The cemetery is now well maintained and can be seen from the intersection. Many of the descendants of this family still live in the Helt Township, Vermillion County area. Charles' father Richard Davis was born circa 1770 in Maryland, died at Newport, Indiana after 1820. He married circa 1790-1798. His wife was Anna Barbara Washburn (Barbara), baptised 6/14/1775 at Minisink Church NJ. She died at Vermillion County, Indiana between 1840-1850. Her father was Nathaniel Washburn, veteran of the Revolutionary War Family Members: Parents: Richard Davis 1770 - after 1820 Anna Barbara Washburn Davis 1775–1840 Spouse: Angeline Bruer Davis 1816–1890 Children: Nathaniel Washburn Davis 1850–1928[1]
