Biography

Charles Brady was born Mark Webster Dazey at Columbiana County Ohio in 1847 . He joined the Illinois Volunteer Infantry (137th?) against his father's wishes . After the war he removed to Texas . In 1871 he was at Weatherford Parker Texas working for Henry Warren Wagon Master . On May 21, 1871 the wagon train was in route to Fort Griffin carrying corn and military supplies . The group was attacked by Kiowas and Comanches on the war path . in present day Young County, Texas . Seven of the twelve teamsters was killed . Brady was one of five survivors . This is known as the Massacre of Salt Creek Prairie and the Henry Warren Wagon Train Massacre .
