Biography

Jacob was born about 1786. He was the son of Daniel DeHart and Elizabeth Mersereau. He passed away about 1861.

On Feb. 28, 1786, he was born in Whitby or New Jersey. He married Jane McGahen (1793-1875). On Nov. 20, 1861, he died in Wisconsin and was buried in the Dehart-Williams Cemetery. The names of their seven children were recorded in this query post. [1]

He was the son of Daniel Dehart (1760-1842) and Eliz. Von Busen. There was a discrepancy here with his wife’s name in this profile. [2]

During the War of 1812, Jacob served in the 3rd York Militia, as did his father.

From Oct. 18 to 24, 1812, he served in Captain Thomas Hamilton’s Company. [3]

From Oct. 24 to Nov. 9, 1812, he served in Capt. Hamilton’s Co. and then deserted. [4]

From Mar. 21 to 24, 1813, he served in Capt. Hamilton’s Co. (3Y222). From Mar. 25 to Apr. 24, 1813, he was on command at Hamilton from Capt. John Beverley Robinson’s Co. [5]
