WYNYARD | Mr James Dean, a well-known and highly respected resident of Boat Harbor, died on Tuesday afternoon. Deceased was taken suddenly ill on Sunday, whilst speaking to some of his friends. Dr. Muir was sent for, he pronounced the case very serious, and although he rallied for a time on Monday, it was not for long, and the end , came at two o'clock on Tuesday. Mr 'Dean, who was 60 years of age, was one of the first settlers at Boat Harbor, and had seen the district advance from a virgin bush to its present highly cultivated state. He was an ardent worker in the Christian Brethren denomination, and one of their best local preachers. He was highly esteemed by person of all creeds, for his honesty and sincerity. He leaves a grown-up family.
