Ernest was born in 1853. He passed away in 1928.

During the 1860 US Census:

Dwelling #468 HH#425. Gotfried Dahn, age 43, was living in Elysian Township, Le Sueur, Minnesota, with his wife, Fredrica Dahn, age 46, and their children

Frederich Dahn, son, age 17

Matilda Dahn, daughter, age 14

Johan Dahn, son, age 12

Louisa Dahn, daughter, age 9

Ernest Dahn, son, age 6

Gotfried, Frederica, Frederich and Matilda were born in Prussia. John, Louisa and Ernest were born in Wisconsin. Gotfried's occupation was farmer and Frederich was laborer. Gotfried's real estate was valued at $3,000 and his personal estate at $500.

During the 1870 US Census:

Dwelling #81 HH#75. Godfrey Dehn, age 54, was living in Elysian, Le Sueur, Minnesota, with his wife, Fredericka Dehn, age 57 and their son, John Dehn, age 22.

Godfrey and Frederika were born in Prussia and John in Wisconsin. Godfrey's occupation was farmer, Frederika was keeping house and John was farm laborer. Godfrey's real estate was valued at $1,000 and his personal estate at $800.

Also in the home (must be a transcriber error/omission) is daughter, Louisa Dehn, age 19 and son, Ernst Dehn, age 16. Both were born in Wisconsin.

During the 1875 Minnesota State Census:

Gotfred Dahn, age 58, was living in Elysian, Le Sueur, Minnesota, with his wife, Fredreka Dahn, age 61 and their son, Ernst Dahn, age 21. Gotfred and Fredreka were born in Germany and Ernst in Wisconsin. (Gotfred's ethnicity is reported to be Canadian).
