Research Notes

  • Based on Sam's description as a "man" in 1831 and his assessed value, he was at least 18 years old in 1831.
  • 20 slaves were named in Henry F. Delany's estate inventory. Rhoda (Prince) Delany was taxed on 20 slaves in 1831. Rhoda appears to have inherited all of Henry F. Delany's slaves.
