Biography

DNA Confirmation[1]

Viola was born on 20 April 1882. [2]

Viola was married 3 times and had 5 children with her first husband.[3]

Viola's tombstone has her year of birth incorrect as 1872, she actually was born on 20 April 1882. I personally have Viola's family bible which shows her year of birth as 1882 and shows her parents as James Monroe Denison and Rhoda Mary Foster.[4] Viola's mother Rhoda Mary Foster Denison was born in 1863 and would have been 9 years old in 1872, a bit young to be having a child.

In 1900 Viola is living with her parents and siblings. her father James is age 39, born September 1860, her mother Rhoda M. age is 37, born January 1863, they are living in Madison Township, Mercer County, Missouri. Viola M. is age 18, born April 1882, her sister Lucy M. age 16, born June 1883, her brother Lewis G. age 16, born June 1883, her brother Olin age 15, born December 1884, her brother John M. age 12, born October 1887, Her sister Amadora age 10, born August 1889, her sister Lena L age 9, born January 1891.[5]

In 1901 she weds john

At sometime in 1911 Viola and John part ways. Viola's grand daughter Joyce states Viola told her " John purchased one way train tickets in Missouri to go to Kansas for himself, Viola and their youngest son Russell, who was less than 2 years old. At Kansas City, John told Viola he was done with her and got off the train." Viola and Russell continued on the train but Joyce was unsure where in Kansas they got off the train. Joyce further states Viola told her that "at this time I was pregnant but John did not know this and later gave birth to a daughter Elinor who was given up for adpotion." [6]

I have been unable to locate Viola or her son Russell on a 1910 US Census but have found all other members of her immediate family.

On 4th May 1910 John Runyan states he is single, age 34, is a helper in R. R. Shops and is shown living with a group of lodgers on Madison Street in Shawnee County, Kansas.

On 21st or 22nd April 1910 Viola's oldest 3 sons are shown living with John's parents Hector and Eva, in Harrison Township, Mercer County, Missouri.[7]

on such n such day 1910 her parents are in Paris Township, Linn County, Kansas.[8]

In 1915 Viola is married to George Crosby.[9]

On 19 July 1920 Viola is in Richland Township, Stafford County, Kansas.[10]

In 1925.[11]

In 1930 Viola is in Richland Township, Stafford County, Kansas .[12]

In 1940.[13]
