James William Denson was baptised on 10th October 182, at Wells-next-the-sea, Norfolk, England.[1] His parents were William Denson and Susanna Canfor. [2] In Australia he was known as William.
On the 10th December 1856 he arrived in Australia as a crew member aboard the ship the John Fielden.[3]
William married Margaret Enright in 1858 at Tumut, New South Wales.[4] They had four children. Margaret passed away in 1879.

William married Margaret Hartnett in 1880 at his home at Bago, New South Wales.[5] They had nine children.
