Biography
Josiah was born February 27,1758,[1] in Lebanon, New London, Connecticut. He was the son of Abraham Dewey and Grace Gates.
He married Lydia Davis of Mansfield, Connecticut on April 20, 1780. The following childrens' births were recorded in Connecticut: Fanny, Nov. 25, 1788: Josiah, Feb. 15, 178; Lydia, June 7, 1783; and, Mary, b. Feb. 14, 1791. [2]
Josiah was a Revolutionary War soldier. In 1805, he moved to Leyden, Lewis County, New York.[3]
He passed away in 1838.
