Biography

Robert was born in 1892 in Mullaghboy, Islandmagee, County Antrim, Ireland, the son of Robert Dick and Elizabeth McCalmont. His birth was registered by Mary E McCalmont of Mullaghboy.[1]

Robert (age 8) was residing in a house 34 in Mullaghboy (Islandmagee, Antrim) during the 1901 Census of Ireland with his parents, and at that time 5 sisters. [2][3]

During the 1911 Census of Ireland, Robert was possibly at sea, perhaps with his Father. His Mother and by that time 7 sisters were residing in a house 27 in Bentinck (Duncairn, Antrim)[4][5]

Robert was Master of S.S Glen Head official # 127971 when it was bombed and sunk South West of Cape Vincent.[6] He is commemorated both at Tower Hill Memorial [7] and on the Dick Family Gravestone in St. John's Church of Ireland Graveyard in Islandmagee.[8]
