Biography

Alvina Anne (Diedrich) Schmitz, 91, formerly of Johnsburg, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Tuesday, 12 October 1993 at the Villa Loretta Nursing Home in Mount Calvary, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

Mrs. Schmitz was born on 10 November 1901 in Calumet, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, a daughter of Joseph Diedrich, 1872-1963 and Lena (Flesch) Diedrich, 1873-1944. On 9 November 1920, she married Leo Balthasar Schmitz at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg.

She was employed at the Oak Grove Dairy in Marshfield, Wisconsin for 25 years. In addition she was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and its Altar Society; Catholic Knights No. 126 and was a charter member of the Apostolate of Suffering, Third Order of St. Francis and the Good Samaritan Guild. She was a former member of St. Francis Home Auxiliary and the Villa Loretta Auxiliary.

Her survivors included: children, Clarence J. (Bernetta) Schmitz of Johnsburg; Agnes M. (Schmitz) Bevenz, b. 1923 of New Holstein; Leona Selma (Roger) Stephany, b. 1929 and Gertrude (Jerome) Merten all of Johnsburg; 22 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; brother, Leonard (Delphine) Diedrich, b. 1905 of Johnsburg and one daughter-in-law, Elda Mae Schmitz of Chilton.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Leo, 1893-1945; children, Irene H. (Schmitz) Schneider, 1926-1990; Patrick Schmitz and siblings, Eleanor C. (Diedrich) Stephany, 1903-1965; and Alex Diedrich, 1914-1943.

Visitation was from 4:00 p.m. Friday, 15 October 1993 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg.

The funeral services were held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday where the Rev. Fr. Walter Orzechowski officiated.

Burial followed at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, 15 October at Saint John the Baptist Cemetery, Johnsburg, Wisconsin. The findagrave memorial ID is 61975689.
