His parents were second cousins through Samuel Welles and third cousins through the Hollister family. He and his wife were third cousins. He was born 1 Sep 1752. [2]Hannah Wells filed an administrator's bond on the estate of Thomas Wells of Chatham on 2 Apr 1792; David White was surety. Wells, Diggins and David White made the inventory in Chatham on 27 Mar 1792 and found a total of £1368:10:04, which, with a later supplement, came to £1396:16:04 according to the order for distribution dated 29 Oct 1804. The distribution, dated 15 Nov 1805, identifies a widow, daughter Anna Wells, and the sons Joseph, William and Chester Wells

[3]Her mother is not identified in records. She married in 1778 and might have been a daughter of the first wife [Hannah], and therefore not a descendant of Ann (Welles) Diggins. In any event, Hannah's children have Welles descent through their father.
