Mary Ellen Dixon was born in 1885 in St Helens, Lancashire. She was the daughter of Moses Dixon and Johanna (Crow) Dixon.

Mary married Peter Carrigher in 1904, in a registrar-attended ceremony in Prescot district.

Their daughter Doris Agnes was born in about 1905 in Widnes, Lancashire.

Their daughter Mary was born in 1908 in Widnes; her birth was registered in the third quarter of 1908 in Prescot district. Young Mary died in 1920, aged 12; she was buried on 13 Nov 1920 in St Helens Cemetery, in an unpurchased grave.

Their son James was born in 1911; his birth was registered in the third quarter of 1911 in Prescot district. Young James died in 1913, aged 2; he was buried on 27 Sep 1913 in St Helens Cemetery, in an unpurchased grave.

Peter died in 1944 in Manchester.
