When Mary moved from her childhood home, she headed to Peterborough where she worked at Clancy's Dairy. Later on after her marriage she would work briefly at Nicholson File Co. where she and her spouse Gerry moved following their marriage in 1941. Mary became a full time homemaker until Gerry died in 1968. She re-entered the work force shortly thereafter as a school secretary with the Peterborough Separate School Board where she worked for 18 years. Both she and Gerry were active in the building of new churches in Peterborough -- St.John the Baptist -- and Bowmanville -- St. Joseph's. Mary was a life member of the CWL. In retirement she moved from her riverside holm e on Sherin Ave in Peterborough to Cathedral Court an apartment complex close to St. Peter's Church. There because she still drove, she continued avid card playing and was the unofficial "taxi" to drive her friends to their many offsite activities. When arthritis reduced her mobility she became at resident at St. Joseph's at Fleming. She continued playing cards when possible and died after getting her wish to see one last time her youngest son Patrick who lived in Edmonton.
