Mary Lynch was born about 1836,[1] in County Donegal, Ireland,[2] and probably in or near Binnion, the townland in which she lived her adult life.[3] She married Patrick Lynch,[4] and together they had ten children: Celia, Mary, Rose, Catherine (Cassie), Bridget (Sister Mary Rita), James (died in infancy), Patrick, Michael, James, and Ann (Annie). She died February 14, 1911, in Binnion, County Donegal.[5]

↑ Date of birth estimated from reported age at time of death (74 years old), although her reported age in the 1901 census (54) suggests she was born ten years later. Actual date is probably somewhere in between, given her children were born between 1862 and 1881, inclusive.

↑ Birth and baptism records of her children alternatively identify Binnion, often spelled “Binion” at the time, or Bunacrick as the family residence. Bunacrick is a quarterland in the townland of Binnion.
↑ No record of marriage can be found, but Patrick and Mary are listed in numerous vital records for their children. Their oldest child was born in January 1862.
