Emma Marija Katarina Doring was born in Riga, Latvia on October 26, 1879, and baptized in Riga at Saint Gertrude Church. She was the daughter of Hedvig (Zabulis) and Aleksandrs Doring, and the wife of Alexanders Dimitrij Nikiforov. Thier marriage document found in the Russia, Samara Church Books show Emma Marija Katarina Doring married Alexanders Dimitrio Nikiforov in Троицкая церковь, Самара, Самара, Россия (Samara District, Samara, Russia) on January 15, 1912. The marriage document shows Emma was 31 years of age at the time of her marriage, and it shows Alexanders was 40 years of age.^[1]

Emma and Alexanders Nikiforov had a daughter, Zinaida Nikiforova Lasmane, she was born in Samara, Russia on October 9, 1914. Emma's husband Alexanders died in battle fighting the Reds during the Russian Revolution before thier daughter Zinaida was born. Zinaida was married to Janis Alfreds Lasmanis of Matkules District, Riga, Latvia, he was the brother of Voldemars Lasmanis, a noted violinist that played in symphony orchestras all throughout Europe.

On March 27, 1950, at age 70, Emma Nikiforovs departed from Bremerhaven, Germany aboard the [U.S.A.T.] M.S.T.S. "General W. G. Haan" and arrived at the Port of New York, NY on April 6, 1950. Also onboard was her daughter and son-in-law, Zinaida and Jānis Lasmanis, and their sons Raīmonds and Ojars. The U.S. Destination for Emma and her daughter's family was 98 Trumball Rd. Manhasset, NY.^[3][4]
