Biography
- John Thomas Dorsey was born on May 5, 1805 in New Jersey to Michael John and Phebe J. (Miller) Dorsey. He married Harriett Curtis on April 26, 1835 in Marion County, Indiana. They were the parents of Allen Wiley (1836–1908), Curtis (1838–1862), Volney (1841–1885), Marilla J. (1843–1928), B.H. (1845–1879), Clarissa (1847–1910), and Phoebe (1850–1883). He died on February 20, 1879, in Decatur City, Iowa at the age of 73, and was buried in Mount Tabor Cemetery in Decatur City, Iowa.
