Jordan was born in 1844 in Hamilton County, Ohio.
Jordan enlisted in the Union Army in Cincinnati, Ohio in June 1863. He served as a Private with Company G of the 5th Regiment, U.S. Colored Troops until he was killed in action in December 1863 in Camden County, North Carolina in the battle of Indiantown
His mother Charlotte Dorton applied for a military pension in 1880 based on Jordan's service, but it does not appear to have been approved.[1]
Research Notes
MIlitary records have conflicting information concerning death; some indicate he was killed in action on Dec. 18th, another states he died on Dec 19th of wounds received on the 18th.
