Biography

Silence was buried in Hampton Flats Cemetery.[1]

Inscription:

In memory of Mrs. Silence
Beman, consort to Samuel Be
man Esq. Who departed this
life May 12th 1796 in the 36th
year of her age.
Here Virtue lies beneath the shade.
Her husband's joy, her children's aid.
A friend to all the poor,
Sweet charity possessed her heart.
To each distress she did impart
Those favours in her power.
Was fair and wise without disguise,
Modest and plain without disdain.
No pomp or grand parade,
Dispising all those little things,
Of gold & silver, crowns and kings,
Resigned herself to Death.
