Harriet Sheldon Douglas, the daughter of Jonathan Hancock Douglas and Harriet Ann Sheldon was born 29 January 1820 in Waterford, New York.^[1][2]

Harriet married Horace C. Green, MD, son of Zeeb Green and Sarah Cowee on 27 October 1841 in New York.^[3]Harriet and Horace had twelve children, 5 sons and 7 daughters, 7 of whom reached adulthood. The children were born in Ossining, New York:

Dr. Green, a noted throat specialist with a thriving practice in New York, died in 1866. He predeceased Harriet in New York by 37 years.

Harriet died on 22 December 1903 at 83 years of age in Ossining, New York.^[7]She is buried at the Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, Kings, New York.^[8]
