Biography

George was born in England about 1846. He was the son of George Downs. George and his family came to the United States about 1852 and they lived in St. Louis, Missouri, Saint Paul, Minneapolis, and Nicollet County in Minnesota. During the US Civil War, George was in the D Company, 2nd Missouri Light Artillery.

George married Josephine Randall about 1878 and had eight children Pearl W, unknown infant , Frank Roy, Jessie Edna, George, Perry George, Sydney T, and Charles S. After Josephine died in 1899, George moved to Long Beach, California and married Melissa Olive Bergen in 1906. George passed away in 1915 in California.
