Biography

Johann Peter "John" Dück (Dyck) was born on 6 Oct 1901 in the Russian Mennonite village of Schosztak, Crimea, South Russia. He was the son of Peter Johann Dück (Dyck) Peter Dück and Anna Klassen, his father's second marriage. The family immigrated to Canada arriving at Québec City, Québec, Canada on 18 Jul 1924 then to the Waterloo, Ontario, Canada area.

After arriving in Canada, the family used the surname Dyck.

After 2 years in Ontario, they moved to Manitoba where his father worked as a sharecropper. Later, the family established a grain farm near Starbuck, Manitoba.

John married Agnes Braeul on 26 Oct 1930 in Arnaud, Manitoba. They had 7 children. He was a school teacher and taught for 40 years.

John passed away on 4 Feb 1990 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and is buried at Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church Cemetery, Cartier, Manitoba. Find A Grave: Memorial #135948366 His wife, Agnes, died in 1996 and was buried with him. Find A Grave: Memorial #135948171
