Biography

Spelling of his last name at birth (LNAB)
In the following text, spelling has been taken, literally, from each cited primary source. Admittedly, and up until his probated Will, these sources are (sometimes several) translations of the original primary documents. But, in his probated Will, Robert signs his name "Robert EAMS". Because last name spelling variations, down through the centuries, will undoubtedly continue to cause his descendants to 'scratch their heads' a common-sense approach has been taken during the update of this profile which was originally created using a LNAB of EAMES although none of the (translated) primary sources appear to utilize that spelling. Because Eames seems to be the most common spelling used in the 21st c. that spelling has been left intact for this WikiTree profile.

Birth & Baptism
Robert "EMES" was born 21 March 1697, Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts son of Robert and Bethia (Gatchell) "Emes". [1] [2]

On 28 March 1697 Robert "EMMES" of Bethia along with his brother Samuel was baptized at the Second Church in Boston. [3] Their sister Bethiah "EMMES" was baptized 14 March 1697. [3]

Residencies
At some point, presumably as an adult, Robert relocated to Malden, Massachusetts just seven miles north of Boston. He and wife Anna later relocate to Marlborough, Middlesex county, Massachusetts.

Death
In 1780 the estate of Robert "EAMS" [as is written in his Will] of Marlborough, Middlesex, Massachusetts was probated. [5] His Will mentions wife "Anna". Son Ebenezer is named sole Executor. He signs his name "Robert EAMS" He also states several times that he has three daughters who are named in the following bequeathments:
