Biography

Rachel was born on November 12, 1836 to parents Thomas Ebey and Katherine (DeWeese) Ebey. In 1850 she was living with her parents and several siblings in Wayne County, Ohio.^[1] Her parents would stay in Wayne County until their deaths while Rachel would move on to Indiana.

She married Elijah Frederick Coats on December 28, 1865 in Noble County, Indiana.^[2]

She and Elijah would spend their entire lives together in Noble County, Indiana and raise their 4 children there.^[3][4][5][6]

Rachel passed away on February 17, 1911 at the age of 74.^[7] She was laid to rest in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion, Noble County, Indiana.^[8]
