Thomas Edmondson (1810-1871) was born in Ulverston on the 24th December 1810. The son of a grocer, William Edmondson, he was christened at St Mary's church, Ulverston on the 10th March 1811.
[1][2]
By 1837 he was employed as a plumber in Liverpool. He married Jane Barker at St Peter's church on the 25th April 1837.
[3][4]
Their first child, Mary Ann, arrived the next year when they were living on Jordan Street, Liverpool,
[5]
but as was usual for the times, they moved around as their family or circumstances dictated. William (1840-1845), Thomas (1843) & John Jackson (1845) arrived but William died in September 1845 at which time they were living on Carlton Street in Toxteth Park.
[6]
Before the 1851 census they had moved onto Park Road in Toxteth Park by which time they had been joined by Jane Elizabeth (1850). Thomas's business was obviously doing well. He was shown as a plumber and glazier and he employed 2 men.
[7]
The family was completed the following year when Hunter (1852) was born.
[8]
He remained in Park Road
[9]
and it was there in February 1861 just before the census that his wife Jane died.
[10]
Both his daughters had left home but he and his remaining sons were living there along with his father-in-law, William Barker, as well as a niece, Mary Barker, and nephew, William Wilson.
He lived at Park road likely until his death and was recorded in the voters register for 1870.
[11]
He died in the workhouse (likely the hospital section), in Toxteth Park in March 1871
[12]
and was buried in Toxteth Park Cemetery alongside his wife on the 29th March 1871.
