Phoebe Elbourne was baptised on the 27th of April 1783 in Great Shelford, Cambridgeshire, England[1][2], the daughter of Leonard and Mary Elbourne. Phoebe was a middle child with one elder sister, Keziah, and one younger sister, Elizabeth.
Phoebe married William Winter in March 1807 in Newington St Mary, Surrey (London), England[3]. They had 4 children.
Their first child, Keziah Winter, was born on the 1st of November 1812 and baptised on the 22nd of November 1812 in St Botolph Without Aldgate, Middlesex (London), England.
Their second child, Robert Winter, was baptised on the the 16th of March 1817 in St Botolph Without Aldgate.
Phoebe and William's third child, Richard William Winter, was born in March 1819 and baptised on the 25th of December 1819 at St Mary's in Whitechapel, Middlesex (London). On his baptism record, the family's address is recorded as 'High St' and William's occupation is 'carman'. Richard William died young before May 1822.
Their fourth and final child, Richard William Winter, named after his deceased brother, was born on the 20th of May 1822 and baptised on the 9th of August 1822 at St Mary's in Whitechapel. Once again the family's address was recorded as 'High St' and William's occupation as 'carman'.
On the 6th of June 1841, Phoebe, known as 'Mrs Winter', was living on Union Street in Lambeth, Surrey (London) with her daughter Keziah, Keziah's husband Richard Cox, their two children Richard and Sarah, and some other household members of unknown relation[4]. They included a John Jackson (~50 years old), Mrs Bayley (~40 years old), and James Bayley (~16 years old)[4]. Richard senior's occupation was a servant, Mrs Bailey was an ironer, James was a printer, and Phoebe herself was an independent[4].
The fact that William did not appear on the census with his wife suggests he had likely passed away by 1841. (Evans-33937 12:01, 24 April 2023 (UTC))
Phoebe does not seem to appear on 1851 Census (that I can find on FMP), so she likely passed away between 1841 and 1851. (Evans-33937 12:01, 24 April 2023 (UTC))
Her third child, Richard William Winter, probably died before the birth of her fourth child of the same name, but I have as yet been unable to locate a matching burial record. (Evans-33937 12:01, 24 April 2023 (UTC))
