Biography

Samuel was born in 1873. He was the son of Charles Patch and Mahala Patterson. He passed away in 1937.

Samuel Z. Emory, aged 63, died at his home in Beartown at 7:15 o'clock Wednesday night after an illness of the last two and 1/2 years of liver cancer. He had been confined to his bed the last two days.

He was born in Foxville, Md., the son of Charles and Jane (Patterson) Emory, and had lived in Beartown for the last 35 years.

Mr. Emory was a member of Calvary Chapel of the Episcopal Church at Beartown.

Surviving are his wife, Sarah Green Emory two daughters, Mrs. George Patterson, Waynesboro Rt. 4; Mrs. Preston Strausbaugh, Waynesboro and one son, Roy Emory at home. Three brothers John Emory, Beartown; William Emory Blue Ridge Summit and Robert Emory, Ohio also survive.

The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon meeting at the house at 1:30 o'clock with services in Calvary Chapel at 2 o'clock in charge of the Rev. A. O. W. Pfaffko. Interment will be made in the adjoining cemetery.

The body may be viewed Friday evening between the house at 7 and 9 o'clock.
