Biography
Susan was born about 1836 in Portmuck, Islandmagee, County Antrim, Ireland, the daughter of Samuel English, a farmer, and Isabella Unknown.
In 1856 she married James Hill in 2nd Islandmagee Presbyterian Church, County Antrim, Ireland. He was a mariner from Portmuck, Islandmagee and she was also from the same townland. The witnesses were Samuel Boyd and Isabella English.[1]

There may be another child born out of wedlock in 1854 - father a Hill, mother an English - 2nd Islandmagee Presbyterian Church. No name recorded.
