- Note that since this profile was created, the source at familysearch.org has been edited. Now there is no spouse there with maiden name Eberhard. Instead there are Anna Margaretha Kirchner (1643-1728) and Maria Magdalena Kircher (1653-1728). The new data are probably faulty as well, since both wives die on the same day, and the first wife bears all 15 children, most after he marries the second wife. [This is not meant as a criticism of this profile, except to point out that the source is questionable.]

In the beginning there was the Meyers also Ensmingers and the Gerbers also Ensmingers. Way back then two families especially were 2 Kilometers apart never attending any Baptisms, confirmations, or weddings of the other family. Since 2018 the Ensmingers are trying to correct these false connections. Therefore my Dakota family goes back to Germany. But they went to Russia. And also when Carl Ensminger's wife Otillia Bach was beheaded, Philipp went to Rhodt, Germany and Daniel went to the Kirn on the Nahe. Sharon's great great great grandfather was Christian Ensminger born about 1794 Lothingen, Moselle, Lorraine, France and went to Russia settling near Odessa. (Peter Gerber line not in 2018 edition. Discovered 11 April 2021 ensminger-1.pdf) Dale Ensminger, Ensminger of Alsace and Pennsylvania 2018 edition. Added with Dale's permission, so all the errors on the internet sites can be corrected. Early Ensmingers not correct in 1994 edition. 2018 edition on Familysearch.org. However Hertha Dietz Wittmer, author of A Journey to Freedom, wrote that two sons of Carl and Otillia moved away from the family. (Philipp and Daniel). NB: 2018 edition can also be downloaded from Allen Library of Fort Wayne, Indiana (David Ensminger, Additional Ensminger Families, 2018 edition-ensminger-1.pdf) or Library of Congress.
