Biography

John Ensor was baptized at St. Michael's Church in Coventry on Dec 1, 1714. He was the son of Job Ensor and Dorothy Moseley.[1] His mother is often incorrected recorded as Mary Hill, Job Ensor's first wife.

The Ensor family moved to Ireland when John was a young boy. By 1740, John had earned a place working with Richard Castle as a clerk. He succeeded Castle after his mentor died in 1751, supervising the construction of Rotunda Hospital. He was involved in the design and building of several Dublin streets, including Marion Square.[2]

He passed away in late 1786 or early 1787, and was buried in St. Peter's Churchyard in Dublin on Jan. 4, 1787.
