Louis Epstein, born 12 January 1886 in Gomel, Russia, immigrated to the United States in May of 1906. He applied for citizenship in June of 1910, filed in Nov. 1912. Named on that petition are his wife Stella and son Leo, born 12 January 1910 in New York. His petition was granted in March of 1913. [2]
In 1918, Louis was working as a painter and decorator for a firm on Broadway Ave. and living with wife Stella on East 173 St. BX, New York, which is probably the Bronx. This information is contained on his World War I draft registration. [3]
The 1930 U.S. Census in the Bronx, New York showed Louis with Stella, and offspring: Leo (20), Emmaline (16) and Rose (11).

This Louis Epstein, the one married to Stella Shkolnik, was the son of AARON Epstein, not Max. Also, if he was younger than Jacob Epstein and born in Russia, that does not agree with the Louis Epstein who was Jacob's brother, b. 1877 and born in New York.
