Christian was born in 1820. She is the daughter of Henry Erskine and Elizabeth Shipley.
On 4 Jun 1840 Christian married John Gordon, son John Gordon of Aikenhead and Janet Hamilton, at Dryburgh Abbey in Melrose, Roxburghshire, Scotland.[1][2]

Isabella passed away on 3 Jul 1886 at Charlotte Square in Edinburgh.
Obituary - THE LATE LADY ISABELLA GORDON. The Lady Christian Isabella Hamilton Glencairn Gordon, whose death is announced as having occurred at Charlotte Square, Edinburgh, on 3rd July, was the second daughter of Henry David, 12th and late Earl of Buchan. Thus she was one of the "long descended Erskines." Lady Isabella Gordon was grand-daughter ot the Hon. Henry Erskine, Lord Advocate for Scotland; and grand-niece of Thomas, Lord Erskine, Lord Chancellor of Great Britain; and of Isabella, last Countess of Glencairn. In June, 1840, she married John Gordon of Aikenhead, in the county of Lanark, J.P. and D.L., who, with five sons, survive her.[7]
