Asa Etheridge and 2nd wife Mary Owens are buried in an old Etheridge graveyard at Riverneck, Columbia, NC Route #2 on land owned in 1971 by Bill (W.E.) Bateman. There are only 3 graves in the cemetery, which Carol Lawrence Vidales visited with Bill Etheridge of Arlington,VA. The Tyrrell Cemeteries book by Camille Everton gives these directions: South side of State Hwy #1211, at junction with hwy #1212, some distance in a field back of William Bateman's house.

NC State Archives, Tyrrell Co. NC Estate ASA ETHERIDGE 28 Oct 1885 Application for letters of administration. J. W. ETHERIDGE says that his father Asa ETHERIDGE, late of said county, is dead without leaving any will, and that he is the proper person entitled to letters of administration. Further, the value of said estate, so far as can be ascertained, is about twenty-five dollars, and he left heirs surviving him: your petitioner J. W. ETHERIDGE, Dorcas DOZIER, wife of John A. DOZIER, Sarah LIVERMAN, wife of W. B. LIVERMAN and Mary HARRISON, wife of Whitmael HARRISON.

Asa farmed most of the acreage left by his father, Silas. He became a Baptist elder. (from The Heritage of Currituck Co. North Carolina, published 1985 by the Albemarle Gen. Soc., article written by William R. Etheridge)
