Biography

Simon was born about 1663 at Egginton, Derbyshire, the son of Sir Henry Every 2nd Bt and his wife Vere Herbert. He was educated at Repton from where he was admitted to Christ's College, Cambridge on 26 Apr 1680 aged 17. He graduated as a BA in 1683-4; MA 1687; Fellow 1687-1704; Proctor 1699. He was ordained as a Deacon, at Lincoln, in Jun 1688, and then a Priest on 12 Aug 1688. He was Rector of Navenby, Lincolnshire 1703-53.[1] He married Mary Clark, daughter of the Rev. Joshua Clark, in about 1705. They had at least 11 children. He succeeded to the title of 5th Baronet Every, of Egginton, Co. Derby on 1 Jul 1729.[2] He died at Navenby, Lincolnshire, on 12 Jan 1753[1] and was buried at Egginton.
