Biography
Charlotte Ewell was born in 1713, in St Mary's White Chapel, Lancaster county, Virginia, a daughter of the immigrant, Charles Ewell, born 1655, in London, England, and his wife, Mary Anne Bertrand, born 1690, in Richmond county, Virginia. Charlotte is named in her father's Will dated January 13, 1721 and probated April 11, 1722, in Lancaster county, Virginia. [1]
About 1729, in St Mary's White Chapel, Charlotte married Darby Gallahue, born 1710, in Lancaster county, Virginia, a son of Jacques Gallahue and Mary Russell. Children of Charlotte and Darby are:
- William Gallahue, born circa 1730, in Lancaster county, Virginia, died 1754, in Prince William county, Virginia, married Anne Kenner
- Margaret Gallahue, born circa 1734, in Prince William county, died 1799, in Fauquier county, Virginia, married 1) Henry Peyton and 2) Ambrose Deakins
- Elizabeth Gallahue, born before 1739, in Dettingen Parish, Prince William county, Virginia, died after 1722, in Dettingen Parish, married William Ashmore
