Jakob was born in 1836. He was the son of Jan Faas (1800 - 1850) and Maria Cornelia (DeBack) Faas (1804 - 1892) ^[1]

"At the age of 26, Jacob Fass enlisted on August 26, 1862 at Rochester. He was a private in Co K of the 8th Regiment NY Cavalry. He was killed in action on February 7, 1864 at Burnett's Ford, Virginia." ^[2]

ONLY PROBLEM with the above source, there is no such place....... or at least a BATTLE in 1864 Virginia.

NO Battles took place on Feb 7th 1864.
